Tinubu vows support for NDLEA and partners in anti drug campaign

President Bola Tinubu, in Abuja, expressed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency and international allies to combat drug abuse.

He emphasized the need for a people-centered approach to address drug addiction, recognizing that addicts are individuals who deserve understanding and support in their recovery journey.

Tinubu assured local and international partners of unwavering support for drug control efforts during the national conference held to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

The President stressed the importance of removing social and structural stigma associated with drug use, as it hampers access to necessary support and services.

He called upon stakeholders to educate themselves and others about the dangers of drug abuse, empowering the youth with knowledge to make informed decisions and avoid falling into drug-related traps.

Other speakers at the event echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the need for empathy and understanding towards individuals struggling with drug abuse.

The Chairman of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency highlighted the impediment of stigmatization and urged society to create an environment where individuals feel safe, respected, and encouraged to seek help.

The MTN Foundation also emphasized the importance of not profiling drug abusers as criminals, advocating for rehabilitation with love and support.
