Newly appointed air chief implements redeployment of 98 senior officers

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has given his approval for the reshuffling of 98 senior officers within the Nigerian Air Force.

The reassignments include prominent positions such as Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Commandants of Tri-Service Establishments, and NAF institutions.

These newly appointed officers are scheduled to assume their new roles on July 3, 2023.

Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, released a statement announcing the reappointed officers.

Among them are 52 Air Vice Marshals and 46 Air Commodores, with notable figures including AVM Abraham Adole, who previously served as the Commandant of the Air Force War College and is now the Chief of Defence Policy and Plans at the Defence Headquarters.

Other appointments include AVM Nkem Aguiyi as the Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation, and AVM Ahmed Shinkafi as the Chief of Defence Space Administration.

At the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force, AVM Sayo Olatunde, the former Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, has been appointed as the Chief of Policy and Plans.

AVM Ibikunle Daramola will continue as the Chief of Communications Information Systems, AVM Pius Oahimire will serve as the Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Uchechi Nwagwu will take over as the Chief of Accounts and Budget.

Other notable changes include AVM Abubakar Abdulkadir as the Chief of Training and Operations, AVM Dominic Danat as the Chief of Logistics, AVM Ahmed Bakari as the Air Secretary, and AVM Michael Onyebashi as the Chief of Standards and Evaluation.

AVM Idi Sani assumes the role of Chief of Administration, AVM Anthony Ekpe remains the Chief of Medical Services, and Air Commodore Friday Ogohi is appointed as the Chief of Air Intelligence.

Several commandant positions have also been affected by the redeployments.

AVM Adeniyi Amesinlola now leads the Armed Forces Resettlement Centre in Oshodi, AVM Hassan Alhaji takes charge of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, AVM Sani Rabe heads the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna, AVM Adebayo Kehinde becomes the Commandant of the Air Force War College in Makurdi, and AVM Esen Efanga is now the Commandant of the Air Warfare Centre in Abuja.
