Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has debunked rumors circulating on social media that he plans to undermine the death sentence of Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin, the killer of Obafemi Awolowo University student, Timothy Adegoke.
Adegoke was found dead in November 2021 at Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife, where he had been staying.
On May 31, Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Adepele Ojo, pronounced Adedoyin and two hotel staff members guilty of murder based on circumstantial evidence.
In response to the allegations, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, released a press statement clarifying that there are no plans to grant pardon to the proprietor of Oduduwa University.
The governor emphasized that his administration has never interfered with the judicial process and condemned those spreading false news as enemies of the public.
Governor Adeleke expressed his commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators of the heinous act face the full consequences of the law.
He firmly denied any association or hidden agenda concerning the convicted businessman and urged the public to disregard the repeated rumors of a state pardon for the convict.
