Taoreed Lagbaja appointed as Nigeria’s 23rd chief of army staff

Major General Taoreed Lagbaja has officially taken up the role of Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Appointed by President Bola Tinubu along with other service chiefs, Lagbaja expressed his commitment to bringing about positive change and fulfilling the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigerian army.

He emphasized his dedication to serving the country diligently and upholding the army’s values.

The army’s Director of Public Relations, Oyema Nwachukwu, highlighted that the immediate past COAS, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, commended the army personnel for their unwavering commitment and urged them to extend the same support to Lagbaja.

Yahaya acknowledged the challenging security environment but expressed satisfaction in leaving behind a capable army capable of confronting any adversary.
