A suspected vandal had a brush with death when he was electrocuted while allegedly tampering with a transformer in the Rayfield area of Jos, Plateau State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, June 23, 2023.

A resident, Mathew Gonsor Gonet, took to Facebook to share details of the incident, accusing the suspect and his gang of being responsible for multiple transformer vandalizations causing power outages in various parts of Jos.

According to eyewitness Joy Umar Ret, the suspect attempted another theft mission but was electrocuted and subsequently rescued by security guards who noticed sparks emanating from the transformer.

The incident comes after recent efforts to restore power in the area following previous vandalizations.
