The Sierra Leone Electoral Commission has confirmed its readiness to conduct the highly anticipated election in the West African country.

With over 100 percent distribution of electoral materials nationwide, the commission assures that all necessary voting materials, including ballot papers and boxes, have been distributed.

The upcoming election, expected to be participated in by approximately 1.78 million people, holds significant importance for both the ruling party and the opposition.

The All People’s Congress, the main opposition party, views this as a must-win election, while the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party aims to defend its position.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace throughout the process, the electoral body recognizes Sierra Leone as one of the most volatile countries in West Africa.

The incumbent president, Maada Bio, and opposition leader, Samura Kamara, are the two main contenders, enjoying substantial support from different regions.
