JAMB sets cut off marks for 2023 admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and stakeholders in tertiary education have approved the National Minimum Tolerable UTME Score (NTMUS) for the 2023 admission into Nigerian universities.

During the annual policy meeting on admissions held in Abuja, it was decided that the cut-off mark for universities would be 140, while polytechnics and colleges of education would have a minimum score of 100.

JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, clarified that while institutions must adhere to the agreed benchmark, they have the discretion to set higher minimum points.

This means private universities previously using 120 and 130 as minimum points will now need to increase it to at least 140.

All polytechnics and colleges of education cannot admit students with less than 100 UTME score.

The decision was reached after thorough discussions among university vice-chancellors, polytechnic rectors, and college of education provosts.
