Two suspects arrested in Kaduna over ATM card fraud

Two men have been apprehended by the Kaduna State Police command for reportedly swapping the ATM card of an unsuspecting victim.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mohammed Jalige, the public is urged to exercise caution with their ATM cards.

The incident occurred on June 10, 2023, when the victim visited Jaiz Bank in Kaduna to conduct a financial transaction.

An unidentified individual deceitfully took the victim’s debit card and replaced it with another card before escaping.

Shortly after, the victim received two debit alerts totaling N404,000 from her bank. Following an investigation by the State Intelligence Bureau, the police arrested Paul Agu Daniel and Mike Ogah, who admitted to the crime.

It was discovered that the suspects had previously defrauded another person of N948,000 using a Fidelity ATM card.

The arrested individuals are cooperating with the police to apprehend their accomplices, and the Commissioner of Police commended the detectives involved in the arrest while cautioning the public about whom they entrust with their ATM cards.
