South Korean firm KT corp plans $5.4 billion investment in AI

South Korean telecommunications company KT Corp has set an ambitious target of generating KRW1 trillion ($773.1 million) from its Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based services by 2025.

To achieve this, the company plans to invest $5.4 billion in its AI business by 2027.

KT Corp has already achieved a significant turnover of $617.9 million from its various AI-related services, including an AI contact center that utilizes natural language processing for customer care and an AI-powered logistics service in partnership with Singtel.

To further drive the growth of its AI business, KT Corp intends to expand its presence in the robotics, healthcare, and education sectors.

In healthcare, the company aims to use AI to develop personalized care plans for individuals with chronic conditions, enabling better remote management of long-term illnesses.

KT Corp has also developed machine vision software called AI Food Tag, which can analyze nutritional composition based on uploaded photos of food.

In the robotics field, the company has created a platform that collects and analyzes data from connected robots, allowing for operational improvements.

KT Corp offers a range of robotic solutions, including food-serving robots, quarantine robots for hospital air sterilization, indoor delivery robots, and an upcoming outdoor delivery robot.

With these strategic investments and developments, KT Corp is positioning itself to be a key player in the AI industry, leveraging its expertise in telecommunications and technology.
