Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, a renowned Nigerian actress known as Omosexy, has highlighted that Nollywood played a significant role in introducing the Nigerian entertainment industry to the world even before the rise of Afrobeats.

In a post on her Instagram page, Omotola reflected on her impact in Nollywood and the global stage during a time predating social media.

She shared old movie clips featuring fellow industry colleagues such as Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, and Stella Damasus as evidence of Nollywood’s global reach prior to the emergence of Afrobeats.

Despite the videos’ less-than-ideal quality and the absence of social media, these movies broke barriers and showcased Nigerian entertainment to the world.

Omotola invited her followers to name the movies they recognized from the clips, evoking nostalgia and celebrating Nollywood’s pioneering contributions.
