Lionel Messi, the World Cup winner and captain of the Argentinian team, has received nominations in three different categories for the ESPY 2023 award.

The ESPY is an accolade presented by the popular American broadcast TV station, ABC. Messi, who previously played for Barcelona and PSG, has had an outstanding season.

He led his team to victory in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar, scoring an impressive total of seven goals and providing three assists.

Particularly notable was his performance in the final against France at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, where he scored two goals.

As a result of his exceptional achievements, Messi has been nominated for the ESPY Best Championship Performance category, alongside other notable athletes.

He has received nominations in the best athlete and best soccer player categories. This is not Messi’s first encounter with the ESPY awards, as he previously won the best international athlete award in 2015.
