During a recent event in Lagos State, renowned American business mogul Bill Gates expressed his youngest daughter’s excitement at his visit to Nigeria.

He shared that his 20-year-old daughter, Phoebe, eagerly anticipated the opportunity to see Nigerian music sensations Burna Boy and Rema.

Gates, accompanied by Aliko Dangote, had also paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu as part of the Gates Foundation’s commitment to collaborating with communities and leaders to foster innovation.

Gates mentioned his daughter’s enthusiasm during his opening address, recounting her words: “You’re lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema.”

He humorously acknowledged his efforts to appear “hip” by researching the mentioned artists.

Gates reminisced about his previous visit to Nigeria when he had witnessed performances by renowned musicians Davido and Wizkid, further emphasizing Nigeria’s abundance of creative talent.

He acknowledged the global popularity of Nigerian Afrobeats and highlighted his children’s perception that he had come to a culturally vibrant and “hip” destination.
