Suspended CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele’s potential flight from the country if granted bail was emphasized by the Department of State Services (DSS) in the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Tuesday.
The Attorney General of the Federation also supported the DSS’s assertion, considering Emefiele a “flight risk.”
Emefiele, who challenges his detention by the DSS, is currently being denied access to his family and lawyers.
The DSS and the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (OAGF) presented separate counter-affidavits during the hearing.
The OAGF dismissed claims of terrorist-related activities and political victimization, stating that Emefiele’s detention was in accordance with a court order.
The court adjourned until July 13 for a ruling after hearing arguments from both sides.
