In a historic move, President Bola Tinubu has introduced a firefighting truck to his presidential convoy, marking a significant milestone for the Nigerian Presidency.
The announcement came on June 15th during a visit by the new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, to the headquarters of the Federal Fire Service.
The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, revealed that they have also acquired 15 rapid firefighting mini trucks designed to access crowded terrains that were previously inaccessible to larger firefighting vehicles.
Jaji further outlined several accomplishments, including the completion and commissioning of the first Fire House props in West Africa at the National Fire Academy in Sheda.
The procurement of 15 Ford-built Rapid Intervention Vehicles, already delivered and awaiting commissioning and deployment, was mentioned.
Tinubu granted approval for the inclusion of a Rapid Intervention Vehicle from the Fire Service in his motorcade, marking the first instance of such inclusion in Nigeria’s history.
