Sowore accuses Tinubu of stealing his idea on foreign exchange but lacks direction

Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu stole his concept for resolving Nigeria’s multiple exchange rate problem.

Tinubu recently suspended the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and implemented a clean float foreign exchange management system.

In response, Sowore took to Twitter, stating that while his idea of unifying exchange rates had been appropriated, he believed Tinubu’s government had implemented it incorrectly and that it might not be sustainable in the long run.

Sowore had previously outlined his approach to tackling the issue during a live program, emphasizing the need to eliminate the multiple rates system and establish policies that promote local production.

He also criticized the influence of external entities like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank on Nigeria’s economy, urging a focus on protecting the interests of Nigerians.
