A 28-year-old man named Kehinde Adekusibe has been apprehended by the Osun State Police Command for his use of offensive language on the social media platform Twitter.
The arrest was announced by Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer of the Force Headquarters in Abuja, on his verified Twitter account.
Adekusibe was arrested for violating the social media policy on hate speech after he posted tweets expressing violent sentiments towards the Igbo ethnic group.
The police swiftly acted on the information and apprehended Adekusibe in Ilesa, following an intelligence-led investigation.
The suspect has admitted to the offense and will be taken to court once the investigation is concluded.
Adejobi commended the state police command for their diligent efforts in resolving the matter.
