A tragic incident occurred in the Ajuwon area of Akute, bordering Ogun and Lagos states, as a landlord named Akinola Agbede was reportedly brutally murdered by hoodlums who invaded his residence.
The attack is believed to be in retaliation for Agbede reprimanding two individuals who were caught stealing shawarma from a nearby shop.
According to a resident who shared details of the incident, the two suspects were initially apprehended and given punishments by community elders.
However, they allegedly mobilized a group of hoodlums to seek revenge on Agbede for his involvement.
The suspects had threatened to harm Agbede’s hand after he had hit one of them during their public humiliation.
Tragically, the hoodlums invaded Agbede’s home, where he was present with his family. They mercilessly hacked him to death with a machete in front of his wife.
The perpetrators were later apprehended by the police from the Ajuwon Police Station.
The shocking incident has left Agbede’s family devastated. He had plans to travel abroad with his wife and children, even selling his house to finance the trip.
The community resident expressed the need for justice, emphasizing that the hoodlums had been terrorizing residents and business owners in the area.
The police confirmed the incident and the arrest of three suspects. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The photographs obtained from the crime scene displayed Agbede’s lifeless body lying on a hospital bed, surrounded by bloodstains.
