The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday to discuss the student loan bill that he recently signed into law.
The delegation, led by NANS National President Umar Barambu, expressed gratitude for the bill but urged the President to review the composition of the special committee responsible for overseeing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
They requested the inclusion of student representatives and voiced concerns over certain organizations that were included in the committee, citing that these organizations, such as the Nigerian Bar Association and ASUU, already have their own separate financial systems.
The students emphasized that student-oriented organizations should play a larger role in the committee.
In response, President Tinubu promised to consider the NANS leaders’ requests and advised them to prioritize unity among students across the country.
