Former house speaker Gbajabiamila resigns, takes on role as Tinubu’s chief of staff

Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from his position as a member of the 10th House.

This comes after his recent assumption of the role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu. Gbajabiamila submitted his resignation letter during a session on Wednesday, in the presence of the new Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, and other members of the House.

The letter was read aloud by Abbas before the members. Following the reading of the letter, Gbajabiamila received a farewell from the new Speaker and his fellow lawmakers, receiving cheers and a standing ovation as he exited the chamber.

Throughout his twenty-year career as a legislator, Gbajabiamila held various positions including Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker.

Prior to his new appointment, he had been reelected to represent the Surulere 1 Federal Constituency in Lagos State and was sworn in as a member of the House during the 10th National Assembly’s inauguration on Tuesday.
