Speaker of Ghana parliament: I prefer to die than see homosexuality legalized in Ghana

The Speaker of the Ghana Parliament, Alban S. K. Bagbin, expressed his strong opposition to the legalization of LGBTQ activities in Ghana, stating that he would prefer to die than witness such a development.

He made these remarks during a press gathering in Tamale as part of the Parliament’s 30th Anniversary Celebration.

Bagbin, a devout Catholic, emphasized his commitment to upholding his religious beliefs and protecting the world from actions that could bring about its end.

He also highlighted the declining indigenous population in certain European countries due to the influence of LGBTQ individuals, asserting that Ghana should halt such activities to preserve its own cultural heritage.

Bagbin affirmed that the anti-gay bill would be passed under his leadership as Speaker.

The bill, known as the Anti-LGBTQI+ Bill, is currently being reviewed by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs and aims to prohibit LGBTQ activities in Ghana, carrying potential penalties of up to 10 years’ imprisonment for offenders.
