Investigation launched as policemen in Rivers state extort N40,000 from passengers

A Twitter user, identified as @LifeOfNapaul, has accused a group of policemen in Rivers State of extorting N40,000 from him and three other individuals.

The victim shared his ordeal through a series of tweets, explaining that while traveling in a public vehicle to Port Harcourt, the police stopped them and conducted a search.

Despite finding nothing incriminating, the policemen demanded N50,000 from them.

The victims, including @LifeOfNapaul, ended up paying N10,000 each before being allowed to continue their journey.

The encounter lasted over an hour, and the victim even tried to resolve the situation peacefully but was handcuffed when he questioned the officers’ accusations.

The Rivers State Police Command responded on Twitter, condemning the officers’ actions and promising disciplinary measures and a refund of the extorted money.
