The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 39-year-old man named Sunday Ejeh for allegedly sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl.

The incident occurred in the Ugbogi community of Ighobazuwa, located in the Ovia North West Local Government Area of the state.

According to Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s spokesperson, the suspect lured the victim into his room, engaged in sexual intercourse with her, and then gave her N600 afterward.

Investigations conducted by the Gender Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department revealed that the suspect had a history of targeting young girls, aged between two and nine, for sexual acts.

Ejeh claimed that the incident involving the nine-year-old girl occurred in January and denied any similar actions with other girls in the area.
