Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, officially delegates power to deputy as health concerns persist.
After weeks of speculation and his prolonged absence from the state, Akeredolu transfers authority to Lucky Aiyedatiwa in a letter to the Speaker of the Ondo State House Assembly.
The governor’s whereabouts had raised concerns, prompting opposition parties to call for the delegation of power to avoid a constitutional crisis.
The Speaker confirms Akeredolu’s 21-day medical leave abroad, which started on June 7 and has been extended to July 6, 2023, due to public holidays. Aiyedatiwa will handle state affairs during the governor’s absence.
