The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of a welder named Aliu Tijani, who assisted a suspected cultist in removing his handcuffs after escaping from police custody.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the suspected cultist, Wasiu Opeyemi, had initially been arrested in 2021 but managed to escape from custody.
However, he was apprehended again by the police last week.

In a tweet from @BenHundeyin, Hundeyin confirmed, “Wasiu Opeyemi, the suspected cultist, escaped from police custody in August 2021 while still wearing handcuffs.
Last week, he was re-arrested along with Aliu Tijani, the welder who removed the handcuffs during his initial escape.” Both suspects have been arraigned and are currently being held in remand.
