Outgoing Senator Rochas Okorocha from Imo State has taken a jibe at outgoing Senate President Ahmad Lawan, questioning the circumstances that allowed Lawan to return to the Senate without participating in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections.
Okorocha made these remarks during the valedictory session of the 9th Senate. Okorocha, who ran for the presidency and not the Senate, jokingly asked Lawan to teach him how he managed to navigate the situation.

In February, the Supreme Court affirmed Lawan as the APC senatorial candidate for Yobe North, despite controversy surrounding the party’s submission of Lawan’s name instead of the duly elected candidate, Bashir Machina.
Lawan, in response to Okorocha’s remarks, stated that his constituents and party stakeholders had appealed on his behalf up to the Supreme Court, implying that he had no control over the situation.
