Traders at Sasa Market in Osogbo, Osun State, are urging the state government to take action in expanding the bridge over Sasa River to prevent frequent flooding in the market during rainfall.
The demand comes after heavy rain on Saturday caused many stalls to be submerged and goods to be washed away.
The affected traders expressed their emotions and losses during a visit to the market on Sunday.
Mrs. Rianat Lawal, speaking on behalf of the affected traders, highlighted that the market has been experiencing flooding for the past five years due to the narrow bridge that cannot handle the volume of water during heavy rain.

The traders are appealing to the state government to expand the bridge and dredge the river to facilitate proper water flow.
In response, Governor Ademola Adeleke has instructed relevant government agencies to activate flood prevention plans, including clearing blocked drainage, removing structures blocking river lines, and continuing channelization projects.
