The Niger Delta Rights Advocates (NDRA), a non-governmental organization (NGO), has criticized the arrest of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), stating that it is a violation of the rule of law.
The Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed on Saturday that Emefiele was in their custody, contradicting their earlier statement that he was not detained.

The DSS had previously sought to arrest and detain Emefiele in December 2022, but the federal high court in Abuja rejected their application.
The NDRA expressed concern about the manner of Emefiele’s arrest, alleging it resembled an abduction.
The organization called on the authorities to respect the rule of law and challenged the DSS to follow proper legal procedures rather than resorting to repression.
