Oil marketers in Nigeria are currently modifying their trucks to transport gas and supply Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to filling stations for vehicles that run on gas.
Approximately 800 tankers that were previously used for transporting petrol to filling stations are being converted to transport gas to retail outlets.
Marketers are also collocating CNG dispensing pumps in selected filling stations that currently dispense petrol.
This move gained momentum after the Nigerian government halted petrol subsidies, encouraging the use of CNG as a cheaper and cleaner alternative.

The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria pledged to provide CNG/diesel-powered buses to improve mobility for vulnerable citizens.
Meanwhile, oil marketers are facing challenges related to payments for petrol not yet supplied and the adjustment in prices after the subsidy removal.
