The Kano State Police Command has officially prohibited the unauthorized use of sirens, noting that even those authorized to use them often do so without justification.
In a statement signed by SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Command’s spokesman, it was clarified that vehicle sirens are intended for specific individuals such as medical personnel and government officials on emergency duties.
The use of sirens is subject to specific guidelines and is restricted to the hours between 6 am and 6 pm.
The Police Command emphasized that sirens cause noise pollution, posing a threat to the sick and harassing fellow citizens.
