The Nigerian government has officially announced that Monday, June 12, 2023, will be a public holiday in commemoration of Democracy Day.
Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Interior, conveyed the declaration and extended congratulations to all Nigerians on this occasion.
In her statement, she acknowledged that Nigeria’s democratic journey has experienced challenges and successes, but the country’s institutions and its people have remained committed to democratic principles.

Akinlade invited Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to reflect on the progress made, celebrate achievements, and anticipate a brighter future for the nation’s democracy.
