Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has engaged in discussions with labor leaders to explore possibilities of creating palliatives in response to the removal of fuel subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The meeting took place at the governor’s office in Abeokuta on Wednesday. Governor Abiodun acknowledged the adverse effects of the subsidy removal on Nigerians, particularly those with limited disposable income.
He assured the labor leaders that his administration would seek ways to minimize the impact of the subsidy removal on the residents of Ogun State.

The governor emphasized the relationship between the cost of PMS, transportation, and the prices of goods and services.
In another meeting with oil marketers in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the National Economic Council to develop strategies and interventions to alleviate the impact of the subsidy removal.
Governor Abiodun, a former chairman of the oil marketers association, expressed solidarity with the president’s decision to remove the subsidy burden and highlighted the marketers’ pledge to donate mass transit buses that run on compressed natural gas (CNG) as a means to mitigate the effects of the removal.
