BVAS system failed to upload presidential poll results, INEC staff testifies in court

Witnesses in the ongoing court case regarding the disputed presidential election have testified that their attempts to upload polling unit results using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines to INEC’s I-Rev portal failed.

Two of the five INEC ad-hoc staff members summoned to court, Egumah Friday and Grace Timothy, served as Presiding Officers in Abia and Bauchi during the election.

They explained that while they managed to upload results of the National Assembly elections, the BVAS machines failed to upload the presidential election results.

The witnesses took photos of the results using the BVAS machines. President Tinubu and the APC did not object to the second witness’s testimony but accused the first witness of being an impostor.

The court adjourned further hearing until Friday. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who came second in the election, alleges that the election was rigged in favor of President Tinubu and the APC, claiming the use of a third-party device to intercept and manipulate the results.
