World bank allocates $150 million to Ghana for poverty alleviation efforts

According to a statement from the World Bank’s Ghana office, the organization has provided $150 million in funding to assist the Ghanaian government in fulfilling its obligations in poverty alleviation.

The funding aims to support the country, which is currently facing fiscal challenges, in meeting its pro-poor commitments as part of a three-year program with the International Monetary Fund for social spending.

Additionally, the funding will contribute to the Ghana School Feeding Programme, benefiting 3.6 million children enrolled in public kindergartens and primary schools nationwide.

Pierre Laporte, the Country Director for Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone at the World Bank, expressed the institution’s satisfaction in providing additional financing during these challenging macroeconomic circumstances.
