Senator George Akume was officially sworn in as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation by President Bola Tinubu.

The ceremony took place in the council chamber, witnessed by various government officials including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan (Head of the Civil Service of the Federation), and Mrs Regina Akume, the spouse of the new SGF.

Previously, President Tinubu appointed Akume as the SGF and also named Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, as the new Chief of Staff, and Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, the former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as the Deputy Chief of Staff.
