Imansuangbon dumps PDP ahead of Edo state governorship election

Former PDP governorship aspirant and prominent party member, Kenneth Imansuangbon, has announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the upcoming Edo State governorship election.

Speculations had been circulating that Imansuangbon, popularly known as ‘Rice man’ due to his annual rice distribution during the yuletide season, was planning to join the Labour Party (LP) to contest the gubernatorial election.

While his statement did not explicitly state the reasons for his departure from the PDP, Imansuangbon expressed gratitude to the party and described his time with them as memorable.

Imansuangbon had previously contested for the governorship under the PDP and stepped down in favor of Godwin Obaseki in the 2020 election after negotiations.
