Canada expands visa free travel list, excludes Nigeria but adds Morocco and Seychelles

The Canadian government has revealed that visitors from 13 countries across Asia, Africa, Central and South America will now enjoy visa-free travel to Canada.

In a statement issued by Sean Fraser, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, it was disclosed that visa-free travel has been extended to countries such as Antigua and Barbuda, St Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts-Nevis, Panama, Argentina, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Morocco, Seychelles, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Thailand, and the Philippines.

However, Nigeria, the most populous nation in Africa, did not make the list. The expansion of the electronic travel authorization (eTA) program aims to facilitate travel for “known travellers” from these countries, promoting tourism, economic benefits, and strengthening global relations.

The introduction of visa-free air travel is expected to enhance accessibility and affordability for visitors, fostering both business and leisure trips to Canada for up to six months.
