Abia first lady pays surprise visit to rescued inmates of baby factory

Abia State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, made an unexpected visit to 21 pregnant young girls who were rescued from a baby factory in Umunkpei, Nvosi, Isialangwa South LGA.

She expressed deep sadness and disappointment over the incident, describing it as heartbreaking. Mrs. Otti assured the girls that immediate action is being taken to rehabilitate them and temporarily provide care.

She emphasized that the government will collaborate with homes, churches, and other stakeholders to assist and support these young girls and the children in the state who are being exploited.

The Provost of Madonna College of Health Technology, Rev. Father Christian Anokwuru, explained how the government brought the girls to the college’s maternity section for care.

He confirmed that the girls, approximately 20 in number, have undergone necessary scans and tests, with one of them already giving birth.

He assured the first lady that they will receive proper care and attention.
