Nigerian army raids baby factory, rescues pregnant women and babies

The 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army conducted a raid on a baby factory in Umunkpei Nvosi, Isiala-Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The operation, carried out in response to an intelligence report, aimed to dismantle the alleged illegal operation and rescue the victims.

As a result, 22 women, including 21 pregnant women, and two babies (a boy and a girl) were rescued from the facility.

Various items such as a generator, stretcher, gas cylinder, food items, and cooking ingredients were also found at the scene.

The owner of the baby factory managed to evade capture, but efforts are underway to apprehend her.

One suspect, identified as Katherine Oyechi Ngwanma, a 34-year-old chef at the facility, was arrested.

The pregnant women and babies have been handed over to the Abia State Government for further assistance and investigation.
