Neymar questions african players’ dedication to national teams, citing club performance

In a tweet by British entrepreneur Frank Khalid, Neymar, the Brazilian superstar and Paris Saint Germain forward, expressed his concerns about the commitment of African players to their national teams despite the abundance of talent from the continent.

Neymar acknowledged that Africa possesses a wealth of skilled players, but he noted that they often display their best performances for their club teams rather than their countries.

Comparing the success of Brazil, who have won the World Cup five times, Neymar attributed their achievements to the passion exhibited by South American and European players for their respective national teams.

He emphasized that African players, despite featuring prominently in top European clubs, lack the same level of enthusiasm when representing their countries.

Neymar’s statement resonates with criticisms leveled at Nigerian players who have been accused of prioritizing their club commitments over the national team.

Neymar himself has made 124 appearances for Brazil, scoring 77 goals.
