Kano governor commences demolition of illegal structures

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has initiated the demolition of structures believed to have been built on public lands.

The Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, confirmed the action in a statement, stating that the governor ordered the immediate demolition of illegal structures constructed on public property as part of his policy objectives.

The affected structures, located in schools, mosques, playgrounds, graveyards, markets, and hospitals, will be demolished to ensure compliance with urban planning regulations and to enhance the beauty and safety of the state.

Governor Yusuf expressed his concern about the encroachment on public places that serve essential social services to the people, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to ending land grabbing and the unauthorized erection of structures.

The initial phase of the demolition took place at the Race Course playground, where all illegal structures were removed.

The governor urged the residents of Kano to be patient, assuring them of a prosperous future for the state.

He recently visited the Kano Hajj Camp, expressing dissatisfaction with its condition and ordering all land developers to cease construction immediately or face consequences.
