Samuel Kwamkur, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Plateau State, has issued a stern warning to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, urging him not to stoke flames of discord in Nigeria through his inflammatory statements.
Speaking at a press conference in Jos, Kwamkur, a former National Director of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), responded to alleged remarks made by El-Rufai during his handover to his successor.
El-Rufai allegedly proclaimed that the Islamic dominance witnessed in Kaduna had been successfully replicated across Nigeria and would continue.
He reportedly claimed that the victory of Bola Tinubu had silenced the Christian Association of Nigeria, pledging to sustain an Islamic-dominated government for two decades.

Expressing disappointment at El-Rufai’s comments, Kwamkur criticized the former governor for his divisive classification of citizens as “them” versus “us,” suggesting his involvement in the killings and destruction of Christian properties in Kaduna.
Kwamkur further accused El-Rufai of transforming into a “confirmed religious bigot” with a hidden agenda to exploit religion and destabilize the country.
He urged El-Rufai not to mislead Nigerians into believing that Tinubu’s electoral victory aimed solely to Islamize the nation.
Kwamkur emphasized the importance of promoting unity and called for leaders to focus on development, poverty eradication, and good governance rather than perpetuating hate and division.
Concluding his remarks, Kwamkur reminded El-Rufai of the principles of truth and unconditional love espoused by Christianity, while cautioning against religious discrimination and dominance.
He appealed to El-Rufai to utilize platforms like the Nigeria Interreligious Council (NIREC) to foster unity instead.
Kwamkur emphasized that the support for Bola Tinubu among Christians stemmed from genuine hopes for the country’s sustainable development, and not from any deceptive motives.
