Femi Falana, Nigerian Human Rights Lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has stated that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) decision to raise the pump price of petroleum is unlawful.
Speaking during an emergency meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) National Executive Council in Abuja, Falana emphasized that as a limited liability company, the NNPCL lacks the legal authority to increase the price of petroleum.
He further called on the federal government to reassess the situation and explore alternative solutions, including addressing the dollarization of Nigeria’s economy.
