Labour party faction urges Obi to withdraw petition against Tinubu

The Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour Party has called on presidential candidate Peter Obi to withdraw his case at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, claiming that he lacks seriousness in pursuing the matter.

The faction’s advice comes after the court temporarily suspended the hearing on Thursday in the petition filed by Obi and the Labour Party against President Bola Tinubu’s election victory.

In addition, the faction criticized the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria for opposing the new pump price of petrol following the removal of fuel subsidy.

They emphasized that the party’s position on fuel subsidy removal, which was voiced during the campaign, remains unchanged.

The factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, raised these concerns during a press conference in Abuja.

Arabambi accused Obi of lacking concrete evidence to support his claims during the tribunal proceedings.

He alleged that Obi’s motives differed from the wishes of the Nigerian masses who supported the Labour Party, and that Obi’s actions seemed to be driven by personal gain.

The faction called on Obi to step down from his selfish ambition and stop disrupting the party if he has nothing substantial to present at the tribunal.

Regarding the issue of fuel subsidy, Arabambi stated that the Labour Party stands by its campaign stance, and criticized the NLC for potentially working against their shared position.
