The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has once again postponed the hearing of the petition filed by the Allied People Movement (APM) challenging President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s victory.
The adjournment aims to give the parties an opportunity to reference a recent Supreme Court judgment on double nomination.
During the resumed sitting, counsel for the petitioner, Yakubu Maikasuwa, SAN, informed the court that despite the previous adjournment to obtain a copy of the Supreme Court judgment on a similar matter, the parties had not yet accessed the judgment.
Maikasuwa requested an adjournment to June 9 to allow parties to access the judgment and make informed decisions.

The respondents’ counsels, Kemi Pinhero, Lateef Fagbemi, and Akin Olujimi, all Senior Advocates of Nigeria, did not oppose the application for adjournment.
Previously, on May 30, Tinubu’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), informed the court about a recent Supreme Court judgment that appeared to have resolved the same issue raised by the APM.
Olanipekun promised to provide the Certified True Copies of the judgment within the next two days, and he would discuss with the petitioners whether there is still a need to continue with the petition in light of the Supreme Court’s decision.
In response, APM’s counsel, Shehu Abubakar, requested a short adjournment to allow the petitioners to obtain the judgment and assess its impact on the case
