A 33-year-old man has been apprehended by police detectives from the Ningi Divisional Headquarters for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Nasaru Village, Bauchi State.

The suspect reportedly enticed the minor with a lemon drink suspected to be mixed with an intoxicant, causing her to become unconscious.

Taking advantage of her vulnerable state, he forcefully engaged in sexual intercourse with her. The father of the girl promptly reported the incident to the police.

The victim suffered severe internal injuries and bleeding, necessitating immediate medical attention at the General Hospital Ningi and subsequent referral to the National Obstetrics Fistula Center and Federal Medical Centre.

The arrested suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, and the investigation is ongoing.
