Woman arrested for alleged baby factory operation in Rivers state, admits selling children for N1.4 to N1.5 million

A woman who was apprehended for allegedly running a baby factory in the Akudo Azoroh area of Rivers State has confessed to selling the infants for prices ranging from N1.4 to N1.5 million, depending on their gender.

The Nigerian police operatives in Rivers State uncovered the suspected baby-making factory and successfully rescued six pregnant girls.

The arrest took place near the Choba community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

During his inaugural media briefing in Port Harcourt, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Polycarp Emeka, revealed the details of the case.

The suspect admitted her involvement in the illicit business but insisted that she only gave the babies to families who were unable to conceive and not to ritualists.

The woman, identified as Mrs. Azoroh, disclosed to the police that she had already given away six children in the past. She started the baby factory operation three years ago.

According to her statement, the pregnant girls sought her out willingly, and she paid them amounts ranging from N800,000 to N900,000 based on the stage of their pregnancies and the gender of the child delivered.
