The Defence Headquarters has announced that over the past two weeks, troops of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) have successfully destroyed 47 illegal refining sites and arrested 65 individuals suspected of oil theft and other criminal activities.
Major General Musa Danmadami, the Director of Defence Media Operations, provided this information during a bi-weekly news conference in Abuja.
According to Danmadami, the armed forces have maintained a high level of intensity in their efforts to combat oil theft, illegal refineries, and criminal operations through aggressive raids, patrols, and clearance operations.

Significant recoveries were made, including 186,000 liters of crude oil, 42,750 liters of Automotive Gas Oil, 4,500 liters of Premium Motor Spirit, and 200 liters of Dual Purpose Kerosene.
In addition, various equipment and items used in illegal activities were seized, such as storage tanks, ovens, dugout pits, boats, and weapons.
The troops also conducted a successful raid on a suspected criminal’s house in Ibaa community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, on May 18.
All recovered items and apprehended suspects have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
