Over 31,000 police personnel promoted as IGP implements manpower development policy

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has given his approval for the promotion of 31,465 police personnel.

This includes the promotion of 24,991 sergeants to inspector, 194 corporals to sergeant, and 6,280 constables to corporal cadres.

The announcement was made by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday.

The promotion is part of the IGP’s strategy to enhance the development of the police workforce, recognizing and elevating deserving officers based on their competence, qualifications, and length of service.

The IGP encouraged the newly promoted officers to embody the core principles and values of modern policing and carry out their duties in compliance with existing laws.

IGP congratulated two Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, Aishatu Abubakar and Olofu Adejoh, on their recent national honors.

Aishatu Abubakar received the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award, while Olofu Adejoh was conferred with the National Productivity Order of Merit Award (NPOM) by the National Productivity Centre. The honours were approved by the former President
