Mexican actor Sergio Calderón, known for pirates of the caribbean, passes away at 77

Renowned Mexican actor Sergio Calderón has died at the age of 77, marking the end of an illustrious career spanning six decades.

Calderón, known for his remarkable performances in over 40 Hollywood films including Pirates of the Caribbean and Men In Black, passed away on May 31 in Los Angeles.

His family confirmed that he peacefully passed away in a hospital due to natural causes.

One of his most notable roles was as Captain Vallenueva in the 2007 film Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End, where he starred alongside Johnny Depp.

He also gained recognition for his portrayal of the ‘head on a stick’ held by an alien in the 1997 movie Men in Black.

In a recent interview conducted shortly before his passing, Calderón expressed his fondness for playing villainous characters.

He embraced the reactions of viewers who expressed their dislike for him on the streets, considering it a measure of his success in convincingly portraying his roles.

Calderón’s passion for performing emerged during his childhood in a small tropical village in Mexico. At the age of 10, he moved to Mexico City, where he discovered his love for acting after participating in a poetry reading.

His acting journey began in 1970 when he landed his first role in The Bridge in the Jungle, a film shot in Mexico.
