Adegoke’s murder: Dr. Adedoyin and workers sentenced to death, hotel forfeited

Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, a well-known hotel owner, has been found guilty of the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a former Master’s student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, by an Osun State High Court.

Adegoke was discovered dead in November 2021 at Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel, where he had been staying.

In a lengthy judgment, Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Adepele Ojo, pronounced Adedoyin and two hotel staff members guilty of murder.

The judge based her decision on circumstantial evidence that strongly suggested Adegoke was killed while staying at Adedoyin’s hotel.

Adedoyin’s claim of being elsewhere at the time was dismissed by the judge.

The judge also emphasized that Adedoyin’s decision not to testify in his defense had a negative impact on his case, as the burden of proof was now on him.

The prosecution successfully proved the charges of conspiracy and unlawful killing against Adedoyin and the two hotel workers, Adeniyi Aderogba and Oyetunde Kazeem.

Adedoyin, Aderogba, and Kazeem were sentenced to death by hanging. The judge ordered the forfeiture of the Hilux van and the hotel premises, which were used in the commission of the crimes.

As for the late Timothy’s children, who were left without a provider due to the heinous murder, the court ordered that their education up to university level be sponsored by Adedoyin and the other convicted defendants.
